THE POPULAR STONEHENGE TOURS FROM LONDON
Stonehenge day tour stays one of London's most successful tours today. Combining three world-class destinations in one unforgettable day, this tour promises fantastic value for money as you travel southwest to Somerset County's luxurious Spa.
Memorial Stonehenge features
About 5,000 years old this ancient
Neolithic site gives a remarkable insight into the history of our ancestors. To
researchers and tourists alike, the ring of stones also raises numerous geological
and historical concerns.
You can see the long road, with high
banks and ditches, known as the 'avenue;' a processional path that runs for
around three miles or two kilometres, marking the entrance to Stonehenge.
Through this point you will understand how our ancestors interpreted the turn
of the year, and how important it was to sync with the Sun.
It's well worth making time to see
the visitor center, a mile from the stones themselves. This exhibits about 250
archeologicalobjecs that were used or hidden in Stonehenge as well as a
constantly evolving exhibition schedule.
In comparison, restored Neolithic
houses outside the visitor centre, frequent displays of ancient domestic
techniques such as flint knapping, and rope making offer living history.
Included in the price is an audio
guide (with 10 different languages), which will inspire you with facts about
Stonehenge, exploring several different hypotheses about how and why the henge
was designed. A gift shop sells a wide variety of books, presents and souvenirs,
many made specifically for Stonehenge in Great Britain.
Warm and cold meals, soups, burgers,
desserts, salads and other sweet and savory delicacies are served in a
110-seater counter service cafe.
